Here is a little more information regarding AdBlue:
1. What is AdBlue?
AdBlue is a very pure grade of urea that has to meet the automotive DIN 70070 specification which is being
converted to an ISO standard.
2. What is the shelf life of AdBlue?
As long as the stipulated storage conditions are observed, AdBlue has a shelf life of 12 months. However, if
you still have some AdBlue after 12 months you don't need to dispose of it - you can have it analysed to check it
still conforms to the AdBlue specification.
3. What happens if I don't put AdBlue in my vehicle?
There will be no change in performance of early vehicles although the vehicle will be operating illegally and
enforcement authorities such as VOSA have said they'll treat non-compliance seriously. However, in time
vehicle's will be fiited with OBD that will reduce the power of vehicles if they are run without AdBlue.
4. Will AdBlue be subject to tax or duty?
Apart from VAT, no. It is understood there are no plans to introduce any duty.
5. Where can I buy AdBlue?
As well as Volvo dealers, AdBlue will become available on some forecourts and truckstops. Bulk and IBC solutions
are also easily installed at transport home depots/yards to compliment existing fuel installations.
6. In what form can I buy AdBlue?
AdBlue can be bought in packages of 10 litre canisters and 1000 litre IBC's (Intermediate Bulk Container's) as well
as in bulk supplied by road tanker.
