Whether you need to slam on the brakes or slow down gently to make sure you won't need an emergency stop, the EBS (Electronically controlled Brake System) will support you in staying out of harm's way.
EBS is an electronically controlled anti-locking disc-brake system offering high braking effect and instant alertness thanks to electronic signal transmission.
EBS increases traffic safety for both rigids and semi-trailers/trailer rigs. The wheel brakes and auxiliary brakes work together, improving both safety and efficiency. EBS is fitted as a standard to trucks with air suspension and it can be installed in some applications with leaf springs.
Brake signals are sent to the EBS control unit when the driver presses the pedal. A number of sensors for wheel speed and brake lining wear send information and the control unit determines brake pressure for each axle and wheel. Modulators also regulate the air pressure delivered to the brake cylinders. EBS also has a pneumatic backup system.
EBS is available in two different program packages - Medium and High. The latter is intended for semitrailers.
Some EBS functions for safety and comfort:
ABS anti-lock brakes.
Lining Wear Sensing (LWS) indicates when about 20% of the brake lining remains.
Lining Wear Control (LWC) evens out wear between the brake linings on the various axles.
Brake Temperature Warning for the brakes.
Brake Blending The auxiliary brake is activated to boost the wheel brakes.
Diff Lock Syncro (DLS) The driven wheels are synchronised prior to engagement of the differential lock.
