Entering its fifth year, the Fuelwatch Challenge is Volvo Trucks’ annual nationwide competition that endeavours to coach drivers on fuel economy and proper driving skills in a fun and informative competition format. A total of 210 truck drivers from the northern part of Malaysia are participating in the Fuelwatch Challenge preliminary round in Prai this year. In conjunction with the Fuelwatch Challenge, a customer truck handover ceremony was also held where scale models of a Volvo truck and mock keys were presented to two customers namely, Syarikat Jasa Selamat Sdn Bhd which has purchased 30 units and Tanjong Express (M) Sdn Bhd with 36 units of Volvo trucks.
The trucking industry, regarded as the lifeblood of the economy, is a vital sector that intertwines with almost all other business sectors. Recognising this, Volvo Trucks has launched today the Volvo Fuelwatch Challenge 2014 and the Volvo Driver Development Programme with a renewed mission to build the quality of truck drivers by empowering them with more knowledge and instilling in them deeper awareness and appreciation of their contribution to the economy.
