SCR technology

After-treatment turns emissions into water

SCR technology uses an additive called AdBlue that is injected into the exhaust gases before they pass through an SCR catalytic converter. In the catalytic converter, the oxides of nitrogen is turned into harmless nitrogen gas and water vapour - substances that are already found naturally in our environment.

The benefit of the SCR method is that it can be adapted for both Euro 4 and Euro 5 compatibility. For the Euro 5 engine, for instance, more AdBlue is injected in order to further reduce nitrogen oxide levels. For Euro 4, the additive corresponds to about 3-4% of the amount of fuel, and for Euro 5 about 5-7%.
