Suspension

Air suspension
The Volvo ECS (Electronically Controlled Suspension) gives you high comfort and protects your cargo.  The system automatically adjusts itself so that the truck remains at a constant height and compensates for unevenly distributed loads.

The manual height control makes it easier to adjust the load platform's height to match that of the cargo bay.  The system can even be programmed with a number of alternative loading bay heights.

Leaf springs
The Volvo FM can be specified with leaf springs of parabolic or conventional type.  Parabolic leaf springs are mostly used in front axle suspensions and they can be combined with air, parabolic or conventional rear suspension.  If the axle weights are high and the terrain sometimes is rough, conventional leaf springs are also available.
