Tailor-made or standard.
The Volvo FL chassis can be ordered with a standard layout or adapted to fit your specific needs. Thanks to the Volvo bodybuilder instructions (VBI) the lead-times for the bodybuilder are shortened and you’ll get your perfect truck, with a perfect superstructure, adapted to your specific business operations, in the shortest time possible.
Easy to build on.
To facilitate the work of the bodybuilder, the chassis can be fitted with bodybuilder brackets in the frame. The combinations can be specified to fit any requirements and any superstructure needed.

Maintenance-free front axles.
A range of three different, maintenance-free front axles are available depending on the load requirements. For trucks with the D5K engine the max load capacity is 4.5 tonnes, while trucks equipped with the D8K engine have load capacities between 4.5 and 7.1 tonnes.
Choice of suspension.
Depending on the axle load, there are different choices of suspension to both front and rear axles: air or leaf suspension or a combination of the two.
There are three different wheel sizes for the Volvo FL range. For the small, optimized 12-tonner with 4-cylinder engine, the wheels are 17.5" while there’s a choice between 19.5" or 22.5" for the heavier trucks with the 6-cylinder engines.
Fast and safe braking response.
The Volvo FL has pneumatic brakes with lightweight discs at both front and rear. The EBS (Electronically controlled Brake System) disc-brake system provides both faster and safer braking response and promotes less brake wear. The system includes features such as anti-locking brakes (ABS), a differential lock and Brake Blending.
Easy, fast loading.
The Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS) can be used to control the air suspension levelling, via switches on the dashboard or a control box, to find the right level for the loading platform.
