In August 2011, for the first time, the U.S. government set standards for fuel efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions for heavy-duty trucks. The U.S. Department of Transportation and the Environmental Protection Agency worked closely with industry leaders, including Volvo Trucks, to develop these new standards.
Volvo believes that using less fuel – and thereby reducing our carbon footprint – is good for our customers’ bottom line as well as for our environment. As part of a global company, we’re pleased that these new standards for heavy-duty trucks call for worldwide alignment of emission and fuel-efficiency standards.
