Total control without strain.
The groundbreaking Volvo Dynamic Steering drastically reduces the effort it takes to steer, making the job easier and safer while minimising the strain on your muscles. It’s perfect for construction trucks, where rough terrains, heavy loads and challenging manoeuvring at low speeds are part and parcel of the job. Now Volvo Dynamic Steering is also available for dual front axles (8×2, 8×4 and 10×4).
Rear air suspension. Now also for AWD.
Most construction trucks drive at least half of the time unladen. Normally, this is a bumpy ride with a lot of vibration propagating through the chassis. Not so with air suspension. It provides a smooth and comfortable ride – saving the driver, the truck and the cargo from unnecessary wear. Our air suspension is specifically designed for construction trucks, and is now also available for 4×4, 6×6, 8×6 and 10×6 configurations.
I-Shift. The smartest just got stronger.
Stress-free driving, great fuel economy and easier manoeuvring thanks to a host of intelligent gear-shifting software functions. The automated I-Shift transmission is a sheer pleasure to drive. Now it’s finally available for the most challenging driving environments and for Volvo FMX with a driven front axle.
Raised drive axle – lower fuel consumption.
Convert your 8×4 into a 6×2. Or your 6×4 into a 4×2. Volvo FMX is now available with the all-new Tandem Axle Lift, a revolutionary feature that allows the rearmost drive axle to be disengaged and raised when you unload. Just like a tag axle would, this greatly improves the turning radius and reduces the fuel consumption – by up to 4% when unladen.
Driven front axle.
But only when you need it.
If you drive in extreme terrain you probably need a truck with a driven front axle or all-wheel drive. Automatic Traction Control (ATC) is a revolutionary new feature that automatically engages the front axle, but only when it’s needed. You always have the traction you need to avoid getting stuck. But most importantly, when it isn’t, it saves up to 2% of fuel compared to a permanently engaged front axle. ATC comes as standard for 4×4, 6×6, 8×6 and 10×6 configurations.
An extra tonne or two on the front axles. Every cycle.
If you want to be productive, few things are as important as load capacity, and every extra tonne you can carry translates into better profit margins. Especially so if you operate in a closed-off area, where you’re allowed to load the truck to its technical limits. We’ve now increased the load capacity of the front suspension from 18 to 20 tonnes for dual front axles. And the driven front axle now can handle loads of up to 10 tonnes.
Up to 540 hp of pure power.
Without jeopardising fuel efficiency.
Volvo’s leadership in diesel-engine technology is clearly visible once you start comparing engine curves. You’ll experience fast acceleration, excellent pulling power, comfortable low-speed handling and, not least, a fuel efficient and pleasurable ride at cruising speed. Our range of Euro 6 engines still offers the same driveability and reliability, and the fuel economy is almost on par.
