Taiwan Transport and Storage Corp. Collaborates with Volvo Electric Trucks

to Launch Green Transportation, Reducing Scope 3 Carbon Emissions in Cement Products Volvo Trucks is pleased to announce its historic collaboration with Taiwan Transport and Storage Corp. (TTS) in pioneering the adoption of electric transportation. At the "Low Carbon EV Green Transportation Launch Ceremony" held today (April 18th), Volvo Trucks conducted the delivery ceremony of the first Volvo electric tractor in Taiwan, marking a significant milestone as Taiwan Cement Corp. (TCC) becomes the first company in the country to utilize electric tractors for cement transportation, signaling a crucial step towards low-carbon transportation. Mr. Koo Kung-yi, Chairman of TTS, Mr. Roman Cheng, General Manager of TCC, Mr. Johan Selvén, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Volvo Trucks, Mr. David Tung, Managing Director of Taikoo Motors Group, and Mr. Chen Wei-zhong, Director of Commercial Vehicles at Taikoo Motors Group, were all present at the event to express their utmost importance and commitment to this collaboration. The newly designed electric tractor for bulk cement transportation, along with the tank container, made its debut at the event.

As a member of the TCC dedicated to innovation and sustainable development, TTS is providing two Volvo electric tractors paired with tank trailers for Taiwan Cement's bulk low-carbon cement transportation tasks this year, further reducing Scope 3 carbon emissions and gaining additional advantages in the carbon footprint of low-carbon cement products. The Volvo EV FM enables a significant leap in carbon reduction effectiveness. Aligned with Taiwan Cement Group's green environmental engineering philosophy, TTS is actively contributing to the environmental efforts in Taiwan.

The Volvo EV FM 43-ton electric tractor, equipped with highly efficient electric motors, delivers impressive performance with quiet zero emissions and extremely energy-saving characteristics. Compared to diesel tractors, the overall effect of carbon reduction is up to 32%! This 43-ton electric tractor boasts a maximum range of 300 kilometers and a battery capacity of up to 540 kWh depending on the number of batteries installed. The powertrain can accommodate up to three electric motors paired with a 12-speed electric powertrain transmission system, delivering a maximum output of 666 horsepower.

Taikoo Commercial Vehicles is committed to providing customers with total solutions. Taikoo has established charging stations in its direct service centers and, through its unique ERS driving simulation system, can deploy tailored solutions based on specific customer needs, planning the ideal operational strategy in advance. This system simulates actual routes, considers terrain and specific route conditions, estimates energy usage and charging requirements, and recommends the most suitable electric truck configuration. Furthermore, Taikoo fully integrates Volvo Connect intelligent vehicle management to fully support the after-sales service of electric vehicles.

Taikoo Commercial Vehicles is actively promoting electric trucks and has fully introduced Volvo's full range of electric trucks in 2023, as well as reintroducing electric mixer trucks this year. We sincerely thank TTS for its strong support and will continue to collaborate with various corporate clients to promote electrification in transportation, collectively advancing towards a green and sustainable future.
