Having fun, embracing challenges, and being curious are words that Finnish technicians Juho Teittinen and Stefan Sehrbrock live by.
From a young age, Juho Teittinen was drawn to machinery and the sound of diesel engines, with an interest in discovering what goes on inside vehicles. As he puts it: “I have always been curious to open and fix things with big engines, trucks, boats - you name it.”
Colleague Stefan Sehrbrock adds: “I have always been interested in everything with an engine in it, but I didn’t really have anyone teaching me before I joined Volvo Trucks.”
For both of them, curiosity grew into a passion for mechanics, and eventually a career. Following apprenticeships, both have now been working as mechanics at Volvo Trucks Center Vantaa in Finland for about a decade.
The two colleagues like challenges and are motivated to solve issues. When Juho came across an apprenticeship opportunity at Volvo Trucks Center in Vantaa, he applied without hesitation. “I didn't know a lot about Volvo Trucks. All I can say is that Volvo Trucks has always looked good in my eyes. The decision to apply was easy, and today I can proudly say that it was that it was the right call.”
Thirteen years later, Juho is still with the company, excited and motivated to learn new things. “There’s always something new to learn. Even after more than a decade, the trucks keep evolving every year which means I need to evolve too. That’s what keeps it exciting.”
Stefan, who joined Volvo in 2015, sees endless possibilities to grow and develop within the company. “Volvo is such a big organization, that the number of possibilities is more than I can even think of! From my point of view as a mechanic, you can sharpen your skills throughout your whole career, and move from mechanic to supervisor, and further, as you go along.”
To better their skills and stay on top of new product launches, they attend educational classes and take courses. What they learn is then put into use in their work.
But despite their passion for trucks and technology, it’s the team spirit and colleagues that make them love coming to work. “Here we have freedom to take your time and can ask questions to anyone. We help each other in many ways, while having fun together,” Juho says. And Stefan agrees: “The helpfulness and knowledge of my colleagues are the most valuable factors for my inspiration.”
