Volvo FM Electric

The Volvo FM Electric is a smooth, agile, heavy-duty truck perfect for high-capacity grocery deliveries, container transportation, crane services and more in and around urban areas. Choose between five motor power levels, with a maximum total output power of 540 kW and combined with an I-Shift transmission for electric trucks you’ll feel the difference behind the wheel.

Essential services. Dedicated support

Volvo Trucks has been a proven partner in the field of electromobility since 2019. As well as our long history of innovation in developing electric vehicles, we’re committed to delivering complete solutions that extend well beyond the truck – like extensive digital services and support packages that make the electric transition smooth.

Charging made easy

The Volvo FM Electric supports a combined charging system (CCS) with DC fast charging, the industry standard for heavy-duty electric transport. With up to 350 kW charging power at below 750 V, it can charge from 20% to 80% in around 65 minutes, which is great for depot charging or planned stops.

Putting power to good use

The transmission power take-off (PTO) is clutch-independent and limits the need for an electro-mechanical PTO in many applications. For road-building sites, that means vehicles can be driven slowly while distributing gravel.

Range for your needs

With a range of up to 470 km, the latest generation of battery technology lets you optimize your truck to your needs. If a lower range covers your needs, you can go for fewer batteries and instead increase your load capacity substantially.

Energy-efficient drive unit

The Volvo FM Electric is equipped with a drive unit optimized for electric vehicles. Developed with powershift, a driveline designed to provide low energy consumption while offering smooth acceleration, seamless gear shifting, and minimized performance losses. It also maximizes the recuperated energy, ensuring maximum range and energy efficiency.

All in one unit

The Volvo FM Electric has a powerful and energy-efficient drive unit that integrates the driveline, power electronics, and transmission. With two electric motors and an eight speed transmission with powershift, you get seamless gear shifting and smoother acceleration.

Power, made useful

Developed for a range of applications the electrical power take-off (ePTO) delivers reliable electric power with easy body builder access, making integration simple and efficient.

The components are arranged to display both the internal module stack and the outer casing design.

Long-lasting energy

With flexible battery configurations, the energy-efficient system delivers up to 540 kWh of onboard energy, with up to 460 kWh available for use

Putting you in control

Intelligent drivability features deliver smooth starts, precise speed control and confident grip, helping reduce driver effort while keeping productivity high in all conditions.

One-pedal driving

Great for in the city or on the highway, one-pedal driving offers stronger retardation power and the possibility to select a suitable retardation level for a smoother ride.

Auto Go

Keeps the vehicle moving at a set minimum speed, which is perfect for tippers driving at low speeds.  At a standstill, when the brake pedal is released the truck will start to move at a speed of 1,5km/h.

Change Direction

Faster and smoother transition from forward to reverse, with direction changes possible of up to 30 km/h – ideal for tight maneuverability on construction sites.

Active Grip Control

Excellent traction grip and startability on surfaces like ice or building site gravel.

Tailor your next truck

No matter what kind of superstructure you want on your Volvo FM Electric, start by getting the base right. Truck Builder is available in selected markets.
