Vladimir Myslik, Driver Trainer Manager in Central and East Europe, put the Volvo FH with I-Save to the test on one of the most well-known roads in the Czech Republic. “The result was amazing,” he says.

Over the last 13 years, Vladimir Myslik has taught drivers in numerous companies how to get the most out of their trucks and how to drive in the most fuel-efficient way.

Since the Volvo FH with I-Save is Volvo Trucks’ most fuel-efficient truck to date, Vladmir Myslik decided to put it to the test.

“I did the test because our customers want to have the right information about the fuel and AdBlue consumption on a typical road in Central and East Europe,” he says.

In the test, Vladimir Myslik and his team compared a Volvo FH 460 eSCR step D with a Volvo FH with I-Save using the D13TC engine. Many Czech customers already have a strong focus on fuel in their specifications and both trucks were equipped with the latest features included in the Long-Haul Fuel Package. The only difference between the two trucks in the test was the engine.

By combining the latest hardware and software, the Volvo FH with I-Save can cut fuel costs by up to seven per cent. The new D13TC alone can cut fuel costs by up to four per cent.

When we calculated the results, we were really impressed by both the speed and the fuel consumption.

The test took place on the road between Cestlice and Brno in the Czech Republic. It is a demanding road with a lot of ups and downs, climbing up to 600 meters above sea level.

“This is one of the most well-known routes for long-haul companies in Central and East Europe and everyone recognizes it,” says Vladimir Myslik.

In the test, the drivers drove all the way from Cestlice to Brno and back again – a total distance of 360 kilometers.

“When we calculated the results, we were really impressed by both the speed and the fuel consumption,” says Vladmir Myslik.

On the 360-kilometer route, the Volvo FH with I-Save consumed 4.7 per cent less diesel and had an average speed 1.7 per cent higher than the Volvo FH eSCR step D.

“This means the D13TC engine and Long-Haul Fuel Package combined exceeded the I-Save promise of seven per cent less fuel costs in this test,” says Vladmir Myslik. “I would say that Volvo FH with I-Save is now the number one truck. In my opinion, drivers will love it because it combines great performance with very low fuel consumption.”
